Suzanne “Suzie” Elizabeth Chism is a popular American artist known for her craftswomanship in songwriting, musicality+production, and fashion. After studying vocal performance at the University of Nevada Reno, Suzie moved to Nashville in 2010 to be nearer to brief collaborator and 90’s hitmaker Edwin McCain. Although this duet-style project was short-lived, it put Suzie in the right-place-at-the-right-time to become the punchline to a real-life “a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead walk into a bar” scenario when Moseley, her three piece all-female rock band, was established in 2013. During her time in Moseley, who recorded their debut album with production giant Jay Joyce, Suzie became the live guitarist for Canadian pop star FeFe Dobson, touring internationally with the American rap sensation, Yelawolf. After the disbanding of Moseley (and a quick phase recording and performing under the moniker SUP, or Suzie Under Pressure,) Chism relocated to Los Angeles in 2018 where she spent two years studying sound engineering and fashion in preparation for her solo debut, the full-length record Where, recorded and performed almost entirely on her own and featuring  additional mixing/engineering by Zack Pancoast (Kacey Musgraves, Karen Elson), Eddie Spear (‘A Star Is Born’, Brandi Carlile), and Paul Cossette (Sturgill Simpson, The Head & The Heart, FIDLAR). Now back in Tennessee, Suzie has released her second full-length record 'Pobrecita' with nice genre-jumping tracks that, although again are mostly recorded and performed by Chism and mixed by Zack Pancoast, feature guest players Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow, Kurt Vile), Timothy Deaux (Kings Of Leon, Grace Potter), and Jesse Stern(Gloria Gaynor, George Clinton). Recorded in both LA and Nashville at Suz Suz Studios, the album preceded with the release of the hard-rocking single “I Get Down” with its QOTSA-esque guitars and Iggy Pop vocal charisma. ’POBRECITA’ is available everywhere now.

“The dark, moody pop vibes of someone like Lana Del Ray, the classic rock/folk feel of Stevie Nicks, and the low end desert rock of Queens of the Stone Age.” — http://www.ifitstooloud.com/2022/11/suzie-chism-i-get-down.html

(On ‘Pobrecita): “The strongest batch of songs Suzie has released to date, pairing her versatile, powerhouse vocal prowess with inventive and impressive arrangements and guitar work. It is, without a doubt, one of our favorite local records of the year, and new sonic ground for an artist who’s been crafting incredible music now for a decade.” — https://nocountryfornewnashville.com/2022/11/10/premiere-suzie-chism-reflects-on-loneliness-defies-genre-with-sophomore-album-pobrecita-see-her-tonight-vinyl-tap/

“Chism’s vocals shine through crisp and clear in a Nashville-meets-Laurel Canyon vibe. Though undoubtedly feminine in tone, her voice reminds me of Marc Bolan and Cat Stevens, a playful sensuality and emotional openness giving more weight and meaning to the forthright and reflective lyrics.” — https://www.analoguetrash.com/blog/suzie-chism-five-minute-face

“L.A. singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Suzie Chism has a self-assured hand. On her debut solo album “Where,” she writes, performs and produces as well as plays most of the instruments. On the album's first single, “Five Minute Face,” she adeptly layers harmonies, instruments, percussion and ambient sounds in a dense, lushly cinematic wash, so much so that when different layers fall away (at just the right moments) the dynamic shift is dramatic. It is as if you feel or hear those layers still or the ghost of them anyway in your head metering off. It is a dreamy, haunting signature sound propelled by Chism's voice that is not all that easy to describe but then, that is a good thing when it comes to art.” — https://www.americanpancake.com/2020/02/from-suzie-chisms-self-assured-debut.html

““Talkers,” a complex track that mixes elements of witchy folk and psychedelic pop. It sounds like it could be a b-side off of Big Thief‘s U.F.O.F.” — http://survivingthegoldenage.com/suzie-chism-talkers/

"We really love the professional and catchy vocal performance from Suzie, and we really like the smart creativity in the production work of this song. Suzie’s voice is charming and pure and her lyrics are honest and passionate.” — http://cheerstothevikings.com/2020/02/18/suzie-chism-five-minute-face/
